What does the certificate actually tell you?
The grades. Not whether the piece is right.
A report describes a stone in laboratory conditions. DD checks the things the report cannot see.

What the IGI report covers
Independent grading of the 4Cs, the origin (laboratory-grown, stated plainly), fluorescence, measurements and a plotted map of inclusions. Every DD centre stone carries one.
The report travels with the piece and its number is laser-inscribed on the girdle, so the stone and the paper can always be re-matched.
What DD checks beyond it
That the stone reads clean and lively in real light, not just under a gemological microscope. That the mounted piece matches the certificate. That settings, claws and clasps pass mechanical inspection.
Certificates grade stones. Nobody certificates the finished piece—so DD quality control does.
Which specifications matter
Past “eye-clean”, higher clarity is invisible and expensive. Past the top few colour grades, differences vanish in a set piece. Cut quality is the one specification the eye always sees.
DD deliberately does not stock invisible upgrades. If a grade cannot be seen, you should not be paying for it.
